Tomorrow is the day that NYC recycling enforcement takes effect which means non-compliant businesses will receive fines.  These rules became effective August 1, 2016 but were not enforceable until one year later on August 1, 2017. The rules require all businesses in the city limits to "recycle certain materials and ensure to the best of their ability that those recyclable materials are properly handled by their private carter."  NYC Business Recycling Receptacle Our Made in USA stainless steel recycling bin is an example of a can that complies with NYC new business recycling regulations. When I went to change the lightbulb on my electric garage door opener I ran into a surprise and I can't be the only one.  I couldn't find a lightbulb that fit!  The old burnt out 60 watt incandescent lightbulb that I removed could not be replaced by one of the new 60 watt LED equivalents.  Unfortunately I didn't realize this would be a problem and I didn't stockpile any of the old lightbulbs before they became extinct. The LED lightbulbs have an extended portion above the base before the glass portion of the bulb.  This built up portion blocked the lightbulb from going into my fixture opening.  I tried several brands of LED bulbs with the same result.  A CFL bulb has a similar built up portion and also wouldn't fit through my fixture opening. At Comfort House, not a week goes by in Fall and Winter months without a customer who has just received their first electric blanket or heated mattress pad, or are replacing a much older one, contacting us to advise it doesn't work.
